— WHAT WE DID
Everything from product concept to getting it to market. Jacob did a wonderful job (as usual) on all of the design and it was neat having something we could physically hold in our hands at the end of it all.
Being a food supplement there was a bit of learning to be done in regards to claims we could and could not make in our branding and communications. Every country has different rules around health claims which we were cognizant of and had to be pretty careful of because one false health claim can land the company in legal hot water.
“Ancient ingredients. Modern products” is the tagline we came up with and use. It pretty well sums things up as all the ingredients (which are just 3) have been used for hundreds (if not thousands) for years – deer velvet has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for centuries while beef bone broth has been used across most civilizations throughout history, and honey of course has too. And all are enjoying a renaissance of sorts as health conscious wellness folk are returning to basics with their nutrition in search of natural more simple approaches to healthy aging, athletic performance and general well-being.
We love animals and although we appreciate the irony in saying that when cows are unfortunately slaughtered to use their bones to make the broth, we are happy that the beautiful deer whose antlers provide the deer velvet are farmed at New Zealand’s most sustainable farm (Supreme Winner 2024) by some of the finest New Zealanders around with absolute care and humanity. And in case you weren’t aware – the deer don’t die – they’re simply anesthetized under the supervision of a specialist veterinarian while the antlers are removed and when done, they go about their merry way with their friends in the lush Canterbury high country fields again.
